Exploring the Beauty of Bundoran: A Guide to the Rougey Cliff Walk

Bundoran is a picturesque coastal town situated in County Donegal, Ireland. With its sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and stunning cliff walks, it's no wonder that Bundoran is a popular tourist destination. One of Bundoran's most breathtaking cliff walks is the Rougey Walk, which takes you on a circular journey of the town's natural beauty.

The Start of the Journey:

Bundoran Tourist Office, The Rougey Walk, begins at the Bundoran Tourist Office, located in the town centre. From there, follow the path along the promenade, passing the "threepenny pool," The Waterworld Complex, and the funfair. The passage ends at Bundoran's Blue Flag Beach, popular with families and surfers.

Stunning Views of the Atlantic Ocean and Bundoran

Leaving the beach, follow the path which veers left, taking you around the headland with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Bundoran's Championship Golf Course on the other. The trail leads you to the top of Aughrus Point, the highest point on this walk, where you can enjoy spectacular views across the town and out to sea.

Discovering Fairy Bridges and the Wishing Chair

Continuing along the path, you'll come to the Fairy Bridges, cliff arches carved by the Atlantic Ocean. Close by is the Wishing Chair, which is Bundoran's answer to the Blarney Stone. So make a wish as you sit on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean!

Taking in the Panoramic View of Tullan Strand

Reaching the far end of the walk, the panorama, including the magnificent Tullan Strand, stretches out below the cliffs. From this point, follow Tullan Strand Road back into town until you reach the junction with the main road. At this point, take a right and follow the path back along Bundoran's Main Street towards the Tourist Office.
