Port Bán: A Serene Haven in Donegal

Nestled in a small bay on the northern side of Dunree Fort lies the breathtaking Port Bán. This tranquil sandy haven offers a serene escape from the busy tourist hotspots, making it the perfect destination for those seeking peace and quiet.

To reach the beach, you need to park your car beside the road next to a monument in memory of a crashed airplane in the Urris Hills. A long, 200-meter path leads you through fields and dunes down to the beach. It's a bit of a trek, but once you set foot on the sand, you'll realize it's worth the effort.

The beach is not very long but spectacular, surrounded by Dunree Fort and Urris Hills mountains. The water is clear and refreshing, and the sand is soft and perfect for building sandcastles. The beach is ideal for a short walk, and if you're lucky, you may find some sea treasures such as sea glasses, shells, and pebbles.

The beach is peaceful and relaxing, perfect for a family day or a quiet stroll. It's also an excellent spot for swimming and picnicking. So bring your food and enjoy a picnic on the sand, or visit the nearby town of Buncrana for some local eats.

Port Bán is a hidden gem in Donegal, a place to disconnect from the world and enjoy nature's beauty. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful beach with stunning views, Port Bán is the perfect destination.
